Day 9 and day 10 (sunday 20th of July and monday 21st of July):

We enjoyed and relaxed at Lake Bunyonyi during the ninth day. Day 10 we drove to Lwengo, our next project. It was a seven hour drive and we arrived pretty late in the evening so we set up our tents in the class rooms we were sleeping in. Afterwards we had dinner, an evaluation and played a game. Then we got to sleep to get rest for the coming days at Lwengo.

Day 11 (tuesday 22nd of July):

Our morning project were house visits to disabled children and filling in forms to discover their disability, its complications and the disabled's interests to give the child and opportunity to fulfill these interests. We walked towards the houses and we visited two children. One of the children got mentally disabled after getting malaria and the second became mentally disabled after hitting his head.

In the afternoon we painted a new class room at the school. We didn't only paint, we also scrubbed the walls beforehand and sweeped the floor afterwards.

When the evening came we had a debate in which we answered qoutes about the trip and the journey we have been on. It was a good way to reflect on the expedition.

Day 12 (wednesday 23th of July):

The morning project was help building a watertank. First we made sure we had sand and mixed this with cement and water to create a kind of cement substance. Last we poured and spread the mix on the watertank to cover the stones and make sure it had a smooth surface.

The afternoon wasn't much fun, I was really tired the last days and today I also got a headache and dizziness. So I got a trip to the hospital. First I got a consultation in which I mentioned my symptoms. Second I received a blood test and after we had to wait for the results. The result was that I had a bacteria in my stomach but was innocent. I received antibiotics against the bacteria.

Day 13 (thursday 24th of July):

We needed to wake up at 5 o'clock but everybody was excited because we were going on safari! We saw a lot of animals like zebras, impalas and animals like Pumba from "The Lion King", We got to sit on the roof of the van to see the animals from a better spot.

It was at Lake Mburo so we took a boat onto the lake to see hippos, crocodilles and certain birds. It was really fun to see all the animals and enjoy this day opposing to yesterday.

Day 14 (friday 25th of July):

Today was our last project day at Lwengo because tomorrow we leave for Entebbe. In the morning we had three activities. First we cleaned a local hospital that was in a really poor condition and not hygenic at all. The cleaned the windows, pavement and removed garbage from the grass field. Secondly we played football with the local school children. Lastly, the children at the school sang and danced for us as a goodbye party. They also showed an African dance which was cool to see.

Masaka was our afternoon destination to buy our souvenirs. We rode first to "Café Frikadellen" (too bad they didn't have Dutch frikadellen) and there we bought our first souvenirs from the local crafts shop. Later we visited Masaka to buy football shirts from the Uganda national team.

Day 15 (saturday 26th of July):

OUR LAST DAY IN UGANDA :(. We woke up at six to clean up our rooms and pack our bags for the coming flight back to the Netherlands. We drove to Entebbe because we were going swimming at a hotel and we stay the rest of the day at the hostel from the first night.

The swimming was lovely after such a heavy week with a lot of new experiences. And also the shower afterwards was a nice luxury. Now I am relaxing in the room, waiting for dinner and afterwards to fly back to the Netherlands.

    Jeannie:

    Ha,

    Liefs,
    Mama x
